THE COMPETITION
The competition will take place on the front face of the Gipfel, which is a perfect freeriding location in the Parsenn area of Klosters Davos.
It's the highest lift accessed peak in the ski area and is perfect for the athletes to demonstrate their skills. Skiers and boarders will begin at the peak and choose their own line of descent down the steep powder off-piste, jumping the cliffs, cornices and rock bands. Each competitor uses the natural features of the peak to ride the most fluid line, stick the most spectacular jumps and demonstrate their own style. The finish will be halfway down the Haupteralli t-bar where there will be spectator viewing, hospitality, live music, food and drink and commentary.
Compulsory for competitors to wear avalanche transceivers, backpacks (containing Probe + Shovel) , helmet and back support to maximise safety.
The Davos/Klosters ride will incorporate a slightly different judging system with 20% of each athlete's descent being judged on freestyle. The judges here will be looking for athlete's taking advantage of the natural terrain to perform a series of grabs, rotations and inverts.
Riders will be judged on:
Line Selection
Speed/Aggressiveness
Control/technique
Style/fluidity
Freestyle
